Spectacles Bridge
Constructed in 1634 by Zen master Mokusu Nyojo from Kofukuji Temple.
It is the oldest arched stone bridge in Japan, spanning 22 meters in length, 3.65 meters in width, and standing 5.46 meters above the river surface. The name “Spectacles Bridge” comes from the way its reflection on the water forms two circles. At night, the reflection of the bridge lit up by lights appears like floating spectacles on the surface of the water. -
