Enjoying a Special Course of Nagasaki’s Night View and Cuisine
The "Nagasaki Night View" offers a wide variety of profound night viewing spots. It is no wonder that it was selected as one of the "World's New Three Most Spectacular Night Views," but it is certainly difficult to understand everything during a short journey of one night and two days. However, that's where the night view expert comes in. We will introduce the ultimate course that includes all the must-see elements for a "Nagasaki Night View Tour." Enjoy Nagasaki cuisine while delving into the essence of the Nagasaki night view for approximately five and a half hours after sunset. We highly recommend you try this. By the way, if you don't have that much time, you can use this course as a basis to choose and shorten your journey. Please, enjoy!

Nagasaki City Hall Observation Deck on the 19th Floor (Night View Spot)
The new Nagasaki City Hall, which opened in January 2023, has an observation deck on its top floor, the 19th floor, offering a panoramic view of the city. Of course, it doesn't offer the grand panorama that you can expect from mountain-top observatory decks like Mt. Inasa or Mt. Nabekanmuri, but you can truly enjoy the lights of the changing cityscape around Nagasaki Station. The observation deck is circular, and the recommended spot is the area facing Suwa Shrine. From here, you can see the night view of Nagasaki, which is like a starry sky spreading on the slopes. It is a great place to start your tour while feeling the breath of the city.

Nagasaki City Hall→Nakamachi Catholic Church
Nakamachi Church (Night View Spot)
Since you've come all the way to Nagasaki, you'll want to see the illuminated churches. In this course, you can also view the Oura Cathedral, the national treasure, but first, please visit this church, a six-minute walk from Nagasaki Station. This historic Catholic church, where the dedication ceremony was held on September 8, 1897, on the birthday of the Virgin Mary, is characterized by its white chalk exterior. The white color makes the light-up colors stand out even more, and the contrast with the vibrant colors of the church spire is truly stunning. It's a perfect spot for taking photos.

Goninbyakusho (Dinner)
For 40 years, I have traveled around Japan and the world, enjoying the night views and the local cuisines. This restaurant, where you can enjoy "Whale Shabu-Shabu," is highly recommended. Previously, it opened near Shianbashi as a specialty shop, and I have been a fan since those days. It's an artistic delicacy where the sweetness of the soup and the whale oil merge beautifully. I want you to enjoy the "Inasayama Mori," a dish which allows you to enjoy plenty of whale meat. It will be especially appreciated on cold nights to warm up your body as you tour the night views. Additionally, you can enjoy other Nagasaki specialties at reasonable prices.

Glover Sky Road (Night View Spot)
After the meal, it's finally time to climb the mountain with full energy! Descending on Nagasaki’s unique inclined elevator, "Glover Sky Road," you can view the shimmering lights of the residential areas on Nagasaki's hilly landscape. You can also move to the top by a vertical elevator, but from here, I want you to proceed to Oura Cathedral while enjoying the panoramic view from Oura Scenic Point Park and the atmospheric night view from Kinen Slope.

- Now, considering the reduction of travel time, and also thinking about the time needed for the transfer to Mt. Inasa, I would like to recommend you take a taxi. Therefore, renting a taxi directly to Mt. Nabekanmuri Park, Mt. Inasa Observatory Deck, and Seaside Park is an option if your budget allows. However, if you want to save money due to budget constraints, there is also an option where you rent a taxi to the Fuchi shrine Station of the Nagasaki Ropeway, which can take you directly to Mt. Inasa Observatory Deck via Mt. Nabekanmuri.
Mt. Nabekanmuri Park (Night View Spot)
※Taxi on StandbyAn open-air circular observation deck. You can overlook the Nagasaki cityscape from the illuminated Megami Ohashi Bridge, and it can transform into a spectacular night view when large cruise ships are docked. “A Story of the Stars: Nagasaki Constellations" begins at 8:00 p.m. Constellations appear in the direction of Mt. Inasa. Enjoying such romantic illumination heightens the anticipation for the night view from Mt. Inasa, which lies ahead. One wonders what kind of night view awaits at Seaside Park illuminated in blue below.

Mt. Inasa (Night View Spot)
The area around Nagasaki Station has changed significantly over the years. The relocation of the Nagasaki Prefectural Office, the opening of Dejima Messe Nagasaki, the major renovation of the station due to the opening of the West Kyushu Shinkansen, and the construction of Nagasaki Stadium City. The night view has significantly changed with the emergence of these major developments. There aren't many regional cities where the night view has changed so dramatically. Enjoy this to the fullest as “A Story of the Stars: Nagasaki Constellations" begins at 8:00 p.m. Those who couldn't enjoy it at Mt. Nabekanmuri Park due to time constraints can enjoy it here. A unique night view featuring a heart symbol can only be found here, and you'll definitely want to take a commemorative photo.

Dejima Wharf & Seaside Park for Night View of Bay Area
(Night View Spot)Dejima Wharf, alongside Seaside Park, is a famous spot for a night view of the bay area, where one can enjoy the flickering lights on the water surface, the illuminated iron towers at the summit of Mt. Inasa, and, if you are lucky, you can also enjoy the lights of ships passing through the port. Water is an essential element for human life, and it can relax the mind. It would also be nice to share memories as a way to conclude today's night view course.

Dejima Wharf & Seaside Park→Chinese-Japanese Cuisine Manpuku
Chinese-Japanese Cuisine “Manpuku” (Late Night Snack)
Finding a restaurant open late at night is a real treat when you're out exploring the city’s night view, and if that restaurant serves delicious local cuisine, it's even better. That's why “Manpuku” is the perfect place to go. Their famous dishes, such as curry champon and curry saraudon, are amazingly delicious. I don’t clearly remember how many times I've had them. It was the first shop to offer the curry flavor of champon and saraudon, and the combination of vegetables and curry is a perfect match! Eating vegetables makes you feel less guilty about having a midnight meal and warms up your body. I highly recommend trying it!
